Kazakhstan has about 33 power plants with a generating capacity of 18.628 gigawatts. One of the significant power stations in Kazakhstan is the Ekibastuz GRES-1 thermal power plant. Located in the Pavlodar region of northern Kazakhstan, the a href="https://www.globecountries.com/power/ekibastuz1-power-station.html">Ekibastuz GRES-1 power plant is a coal-fired power plant with an installed capacity of 4,000 MW. The plant has been in operation since 1987 and is one of the largest in Kazakhstan.
